We concentrate our rescue efforts on senior and special needs Dachshunds. We give them a home to live out their lives in the security of our care. We also rescue young healthy Dachshunds and adopt them to families that will give them a lifetime of love and care. Because our hearts break for any dog that is abandoned and alone, we often pick up dogs of different breeds off the streets that desperately need a home. All of the dogs that enter the sanctuary are guaranteed the security of knowing there will always be food, shelter, and vet care for them at the sanctuary.
I have written a book about the Promised Land Dachshund Sanctuary that includes many wonderful stories of redemption, and lots of touching photos to bring these stories to life. I have decided to self-publish my book and will use 100% of the profit from this book to support our sanctuary.
We need to raise the funds to have the initial inventory of books printed. Once we begin to sell the books we will use half of the funds raised to print more books and the other half will be used to support our dogs.
Vet care is a major expense for us and we need to raise money to insure that all the dogs in our care receive the vet work they require. This means every dog is neutered/spayed, given all the vaccinations they need, blood work to check for any conditions that need further care, dental cleanings, and lifelong maintenance.
We have set a goal of $7000. That will allow us to publish 1000 books. The funds raised from the sell of 1000 books will publish another 1000 books and provide $7000 to support our sanctuary. Once we get started this program will self perpetuate, and we will have a permanent fund raiser to support our dogs.
For many years my husband and I have self-funded the sanctuary. The downturn in our local oil economy cost Rick his job this year. So we are in desperate need of a permanent solution to insure our dogs receive everything they need.
We hope to order our first 1000 books by the middle of June. We can do that if 350 people each donate $20 to our campaign.
The success of this book project will secure the future of the dogs in our care and many others waiting to be rescued. The sanctuary is our life. We feel caring for these dogs is our calling and we will do everything in our power to insure that our efforts go forward.
